WHO WE ARE...

Janitors
Local 6 represents approximately 2,500 janitors in the property services division. These workers clean office buildings in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties. They polish floors, vacuum carpets, scrub restrooms, and empty the trash. Their work is often overlooked and unappreciated.

Local 6 represents 90% of the janitors in the Seattle area and 70% of the janitors on the Eastside.

In Seattle, the janitors earn up to $12.60 an hour and receive full family medical and dental benefits, short-term disability, and a pension--fully paid for by their employer.

Janitors on the Eastside, have been paid lower wages in comparison to their co-workers in Seattle. The nonunion janitors on the Eastside face even lower wages and almost no other benefits. Local 6 feels this disparity should not exist and is currently working to change the conditions of the service workers on the Eastside.
